Temperature Controllers

Temp, Inc. manufactures a variety of temperature
controllers for use in industrial control of your process. The temperature controllers are available to accept sensor inputs from Thermocouples, RTD, Thermistors, Millivolt output of Radiation pryometers, and d.c. voltage and current output of process transmitters/transducers. Depending on the process requirements, temperature controllers are available as ON/OFF, Time proportioning and true proportional PID controllers.

The SMART 1, 2, and 3 temperature controllers
also have available other features
such as auto-tune, fuzzy logic,
serial communications,
auto/manual control mode;
deg. C/deg F selection,
ramp/soak programming,
and programmable alarm.

A variety of physical packages are also available such
as 1/16 DIN and 1/4 DIN enclosures, DIN rail mounting,
plastic snap track mounting, P.C. board w/ remote control
panel, P.C. boards for plug-in P.C. expansion slot, multiple
plug-in units w/ rack mounting for use with or without PC
compatible computer, wall mounting enclosures and custom
packaging to customer requirements. The controllers
can be furnished with customer name/ logo at no extra cost.

There are 3 basic types of Temperature Controllers: ON/OFF,
Time Proportioning  (Variable ON/OFF ratio), and PID
(Proportional plus Integral plus derivative).
Depending on the response characteristics
of the system to be controlled, one of the
3 types of control is selected.

When in doubt as to your specific needs,
the Temp, Inc. SMART-2 and SMART-3
temperature controllers make an ideal selection.  These controllers
via the keypads and internal computer software can be configured for any of the
3 basic types of control.  These controllers also allow the user to either set the
control parameters manually or he can opt to use the auto-tune feature for either
the time proportioning or PID modes.  The auto-tune at the entering of a yes command
will select the best possible control parameter settings by internal analysis of the
system response.  The control function for auto-tune can be selected for either
(1) Fuzzy Logic control or (2) Standard PID algorithm control function.

The ON/OFF mode for control is not used too often, as the superior time proportioning
mode can be used for either operation of a relay type output or a
solid state relay control. The ON/OFF control is used when overtemperature
(Hi Limit) control is desired. ON/OFF control is
usually used in systems that
cannot tolerate the power being turned ON and OFF frequently as with a time
proportioning type of control. The PID true proportioning control in conjunction
with a proportional SCR Power Controller is used in the more sophisticated systems,
providing the most accurate control and minimum variation of power to the heater load.
